This piece is a reflection on government imposed assimilation in Canadian history and the cycles of misinformation and reconciliation leading up to the present. Within the piece, reverbations and repetition speak to the lasting impacts on both survivors and bystanders growing across generational perceptions. In particular, I want to emphasize appearance of being “whittled” down to a core that represents both unforgettable injustice and unbreakable hope.
